"It takes a certain refinement of musicianship to do justice to old songs without allowing the intervening 80 years of evolution to muddy up the performance. Antique Melody Show delivers a dose of sonic nostalgia that wraps you in a warm blanket. The show is whimsical, old-timey, and bubbling over with talent. You will find yourself clapping along, and don't be surprised if the smile on your face lasts long after the encore."
John O'Donnell, Production Manager, The Tin Pan
Antique Melody Show is a nostalgic journey of 1920s, 30s and 40s radio stars such as Annette Hanshaw, Mae West, Fats Waller, Eartha Kitt & Jo Stafford - just to name a few. Sprinkle in some pastiche with Squirrel Nut Zippers, Post Modern Juke Box and other roots jazz contemporaries and you'll experience their gumbo of traditional popular/jazz standards, Tin Pan Alley, ragtime, broadway showtunes and saloon-croon, coming at you from their unique style of stripped down arrangements. AMS additonally lauds a modest collection of resonant original songs evocative of the same era. This band features piano, guitar, clarinet, violin, upright bass, trombone and one romantic voice. These folks are simply the sweeter side of swing. Catch this speakeasy band around Richmond and Central Virginia.
